The SURN Social Studies and History Forum blog facilitates middle school and high school teachers who attended a workshop on using high yield literacy strategies in history class to share and showcase what they are doing in their classrooms, offers a forum for questions, and lets viewers read posts of how teachers are working to effectively use literacy strategies they learned at the workshop.

Math ideas???
I know that I am a social studies person, but I am desperately trying to convince my math teachers to include literacy strategies. They are truly reluctant to embrace these ideas. Does anyone have suggestions that can be used to convince the math teachers to incorporate literacy strategies? I supervise a group of 25 teachers. Our common thread is that we all teach freshmen. So I am always trying to view things from different content perspectives. My math teachers really resist change. Any ideas?
